Effective January 1, 2017, the Village of Hanover enacted a 1.0% income tax which is imposed on earned income consisting of wages, salaries, and net profit of business attributable to activities in the Village. Effective January 1, 2026, a 1.0% workplace and resident tax will go into effect. The residential credit previously available for individuals who paid taxes to other municipalities has been eliminated.
The Village Of Hanover will partner with other Ohio municipalities and participate in a shared income tax service. In doing so, the Regional Income Tax Agency (also known as RITA) will administer and collect the income taxes on behalf of the Village of Hanover. All residents are required to file a tax return (or a valid exemption certificate) with RITA by April 15th (excluding holidays).
